Driving on Mars

Tara Estlin

The Mars Exploration Rovers (MER) are now in their 7th year on Mars, with Opportunity continuing its trek along toward Endeavour crater, having already driven 17 miles from its original start point. This talk will cover a typical day in planning the rover's drive path, and the steps needed to the command the rover and track its movement progress. Some concluding remarks will look to the future, such as the Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) mission planned for launch later this year.
